A few of my subscribers have asked me to write something about the reports of aliens attacking a remote village in Peru. I assume the universe is full of aliens… but they might not be attacking Peruvian villagers. So far my research turns up nothing I consider credible, yet it keeps gaining more attention. Help me understand what I’m missing. Why are people taking this seriously?
“Face eating aliens are allegedly terrifying the residents of a small Peruvian village, prompting an investigation by the Peruvian National Police (PNP) and the Peruvian army. Reports of ‘Los Pelacaras’ or ‘The Face Peelers’ – said to be seven-foot tall – have been emerging from the small community of Loreto since last week, according to La Republica…. The witnesses, members of the Ikitu tribe, have been reporting these sightings since July 11.”
Many videos show a body being dragged from a river with his face missing, with flesh removed down to the bone. I’m thinking Piranha ate his face in the river, not aliens.

Members of the Ikitu indigenous people in rural Alto Nanay claimed to have seen the beast after it attacked a 15-year-old girl. The native people alleged that the mysterious creature slashed her across the neck, which required heavy medical attention. Hunters from the tribe claimed to have fired at the armored beings. However, they soon discovered that the creatures are “immune to human weapons.”
The native people reportedly saw one of the seven-foot beasts disappear and reemerge on the spot. The Ikitu people have detailed that they may be aliens from another planet, while other citizens believe the creatures to be folklore monsters…. Jairo Reátegui Ávila, one of the community leaders, spoke about the strange occurrence and described them akin to Spider-Man’s nemesis, the Green Goblin, RPP Noticias reports.”

If the villagers are asking the government for help against alien monsters, just maybe, that’s because a drug cartel is terrorizing them, but the villagers know they won’t get any help against the cartels.
Am I being too cynical? If anybody finds credible footage or information that can help me make sense of all the coverage for these alleged events, please send what you have in the comments.
