Today is Veteran’s Day in America.  I don’t have any planned commentary about WWI or any other wars we have fought in the past to preserve freedom – though there have been many.  I do have some comments on what life is like under one of the remaining brutal dictatorships, and it seems fitting to post about it on Veteran’s Day, and to thank those who fought to make sure America (and anywhere else you have the freedom to read this) didn’t succumb to a dictatorship under National Socialism (Nazis) or the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (Communists) or anyone else.

I’m not going to hide the fact that I have contempt for ignorant liberal socialists who think they want to impose more socialism on America. Socialism always leads to poverty and starvation after it uses up the accumulated capital (the progress from capitalism) that came before the socialism.  Then society collapses, but usually only after brutal conditions while a dictatorship clings to power.

In North Korea, starvation has even led to cannibalism.  “Testimony from refugees who claimed poor harvests and food aid sanctions had resulted in children being killed and corpses cut up for food. According to reports, requests by the United Nations World Food Programme to access “farmers’ markets” where human meat was said to be traded, were turned down by Pyongyang, citing “security reasons”.  Those caught selling human meat face execution, but one source told the North Korean Refugees Assistance Fund: “Pieces of ‘special’ meat are displayed on straw mats for sale. People know where they come from, but they don’t talk about it.”

But if any of you have taken a breather from the poisoned socialist Kool-Aid and think for yourselves enough to consider listening to real defectors who survived the horrors of a socialist nation, listen to these North Koreans – it’s pretty shocking even if you know how bad it is there.  Try to imagine the starvation, overcoming the propaganda about the rest of the world – and deciding to risk escape – even if the punishment means the death of yourself and your entire family if caught.  (Even Hitler and Stalin didn’t go that far.)
