“According to NBC, Driss Oukabir Soprano has been identified in connection to rental of van used in deadly Barcelona attack, U.S. law enforcement says.
El Pais, reported that the suspect was identified by the Civil Guard in that country. The translated version of the article read, “The van used in the attack was rented by Driss Oukabir, in the town of Santa Perpetua de la Mogada, according to the identification made by the Civil Guard.” It’s not yet clear the degree to which police believe that Driss Oukabir was allegedly involved in the attack – whether he was the driver, for example.
However, a report in La VanGuardia says that Driss Oukabir, after seeking his photos and name in the news media, claims it’s a case of stolen identity. If true, that makes the actual identity of the Barcelona terrorist unclear. El Nacional, a local Spanish publication, also reported that Oukabir had come into a local police precinct to say his identity was taken and he’s not the terrorist.”

Very soon after the Barcelona attack, I see the Wall Street Journal says: “Just hours after Islamic State claimed responsibility for a terror strike in Barcelona on Thursday, police shot and killed five men in the seaside town of Cambrils, after they plowed a vehicle into a group of civilians and a police patrol.”
There are lots of threats to democracy from many sides; it isn’t just Islamic terrorism in Europe or neo-Nazis in Virginia. What scares me most is that so many people are so fed up, and unwilling to work within society’s rules, that murder is so easily justified – especially today, during prosperous times. What will people be like after the economic collapse so many are predicting?
