“Islamophobia” blocks clear thinking. It ignores the traditional Islamic motives that drive jihadists, trivializing them into wayward teens who “act out” because their self-esteem has been damaged by insensitive adults, and who merely need their self-esteem boosted by recognition of how wonderful their religion and culture are. A foreign policy based on such pop-psychological superstitions is one doomed to fail.”
By adding “phobia” on the end, the term”Islamophobia” presents itself as an irrational fear (like pillowphobia) when for millions of people the better analogies would be to murderphobia or rapephobia or beheadingphobia… those last three are not words because it is NOT irrational to fear such things, especially under certain conditions in certain places. “Islamophobia” should not even be a word; that it is one tells us it is a political tool for those defending Islam.
That would include the US Congress, busily crafting new resolutions against free speech in specific defense not of religion (because, you know, f**k Christianity) but of Islam.
Do you ever ask yourself why Obama and his administration bend over backwards to defend Islam, and why he will never use the words “Islamic terrorism”? Though the original quote is almost definitely NOT from Voltaire, many believe he once said: “To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.” Will anyone be allowed to criticize Islam? If not, then it rules over us. I prefer as much freedom as possible, not Sharia Law. But which are we going to have more of in the next few years?
