Most Christians who study end times Bible prophecy or the Book of Revelation are familiar with the idea that in the final 3.5 years, there is a woman (the faithful of Israel) who flees to safety in Petra, Jordan – to escape the Antichrist:
Revelation 12:14 “But the two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, so that she could fly into the wilderness to her place, where she *was nourished for a time and times and half a time.”
(Also of possible relevance: Psalm 91:1-4 “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!” For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper And from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may seek refuge.”)
Take a look at some maps of the Dead Sea (which has been drying up and shrinking for several decades) area around Israel and Jordan:
But most important – lets turn the map sideways:
Could the geography around the Dead Sea REALLY look that much like an eagle, with Petra on a wing?
Yes – I had my doubts because the similarity to an eagle seems so amazing, but I went to Google and searched “satellite images Dead Sea” and found plenty like this one from NASA:
Further evaporation and reduction in the water level of the Dead Sea has cut off the southern portion of the Sea and made a new escape route between Israel and Jordan since the earlier photos were taken.
