The Kurdish people number about 40 million strong, but are spread out (without an independent homeland) throughout NW Iran, NE Iraq, NE Syria, and a huge chunk of SW Turkey.  They are unwanted in every one of those existing nations.  It’s too bad (for them) that Turkey has been a key US ally, and for most of the last 60+ years, an Israeli ally.  Because if the Kurds ever achieve their goal of a homeland, it would primarily be in Turkey.  Many borders in the Middle East would have to be redesigned to accommodate a Kurdish nation.

If I were President of the United States (alas, I am not) there would be an independent Kurdistan already.  Not only would this oil rich region become a grateful ally of the United States, but it would be an ethnically coherent nation, a potentially stable nation, and one in a position to defend itself against ISIS.

Despite harsh oppression (their political party is treated as a terrorist entity in Turkey) they still got 13% of the vote in recent elections, bringing 80 seats out of Turkey’s 550 under their direct control – but they may never be allowed to effectively take office.  See the Gatestone Institute’s article “Will Anyone Help the Kurds” HERE)  Turkey’s army and air force still massacre the Kurdish minority when they try to exercise their rights fully.  It brings back memories of the Armenian Genocide, in which Turks killed about 1.5 million ethnic Armenians in Turkey about a century ago.

Of course, the only “oppressed minority” in American news are the Palestinians in Israel, who have Jordan already as the Arab portion of Palestine, but are very adept at manipulating the media into wanting to give them a second independent homeland in the land Israel won from its enemies in war.

Add in a nuclear and ambitious Iran, and ISIS, and I don’t think the Middle East is likely to see stable borders anytime soon.  WWIII seems more likely than Peace in Our Time.

I don’t think anyone will help the Kurds soon, certainly not the American Sheeple or their pro-Iranian, pro-Islamic Caliphate leaders.  Maybe after the Second Coming, the Kurdish people will have peace and freedom, along with anybody else left on a New Earth.
