If Obama pushes too hard against Russia, what kind of reaction might be provoked? If he tries to force the British, French, and Germans to line up behind America in a strongly pro-Ukrainian and anti-Russian stance, Russia can simply turn off the flow of oil and gas to Europe. Germany is the single largest buyer of Russian gas. Would they rather appease Obama (who spies on them) and freeze, or use the opportunity to back away from NATO and the dollar, and start acting independently – politically, economically, and perhaps even militarily?
I will suggest an idea – that Obama PURPOSEFULLY antagonizes American allies as he seeks to empower the third world indirectly by leveling the playing field – and that means bringing the strongest nation down a notch or two on all fronts. The guy has been called a Manchurian Candidate for a reason. Vastly increasing debt, socializing healthcare, deeming the internet a public utility to be monitored by government, defending terrorists – this is not the hope and change I would have asked for. It is pretty close to what Karl Marx asked for.
