In light of recent atrocities around the world like the Charlie Hebdo attacks in France and the Jordanian pilot who was burned alive in a cage, President Obama notes the wide range of offenders. Let’s face it, some things happen in the Middle East but some happen in Europe; heck 9/11 happened in the USA! There’s no link between them. It’s a mystery as to what connection, if any, the perpetrators of such violent acts may or may not share.
Obama tells us: “Unless we get on our high horse and think that this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ,” Obama said. “In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ…. So it is not unique to one group or one religion,” Obama said.
Yes, terrible deeds committed in the name of Christ is what I worry about when I fly. If I were in the Middle East today, I would be very careful not to offend irrational Christians who might blow me up or behead me or burn me alive in a cage in the name of Christ. Obama nailed it.
