An interesting case against the use of what could be considered the forced taking of the mark of the beast ended in a settlement in favor of the employee who refused to take the mark.  The man:

“was worried that the biometric hand-scanner would give him the “mark of the beast” and that the technology was associated with the Antichrist, as described in the Bible. Revelations 13:17-18:

“and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.”

When Butcher requested an alternative method, which had been provided to two other employees because they had missing fingers, the company denied his wishes.”

The case was filed in 2013, and settled on January 22, 2015.

In the comments of a different article on the subject:

“In religious accommodation cases, the standard is not whether company officials agree with or share the employee’s religious beliefs,” said Philadelphia regional attorney Debra M. Lawrence. “Instead, the focus is on whether the employer can provide an accommodation without incurring an undue hardship.”

EEOC District Director Spencer H. Lewis, Jr. added, “In this case, the mining companies not only lost the services of a long-tenured employee, they also violated federal law when they obstinately refused to consider easy alternatives to their new hand-scanning time and attendance system to accommodate Mr. Butcher’s religious beliefs.”

Just as scary: the overwhelming majority of employees accepted the “mark” to allow tracking of their attendance.  Imagine how many will accept the real mark to be able to buy, sell… eat, and live.
