Don’t get me wrong, The Harbinger was a great novel.  And I am intrigued by Cahn’s premise that in September 2015 there will be a major financial collapse.  I expect economic chaos to precede the Antichrist’s full ascension to power, which should come right after being fully revealed to the world in June 2016.

But in the video HERE, Cahn says that 2015 will be a Shemitah Year and that this is very significant, as was the case in previous years, (like September 2008, and 2001) and that it will be another financial disaster for America.  Around the 2 minute mark of this video, he says that 586 B.C. was also a Shemitah Year when the Babylonians destroyed the Jewish Temple.

This cannot be correct.

First of all, as I established at length from Babylonian records in a previous book of mine (End Times and 2019) – the Babylonians destroyed the Temple in 584 B.C. – not 586 B.C.  The mistake is understandable, as it stems from the differences in the way Jews (like Jeremiah) and Babylonians viewed the reigns of kings.  Babylonians backdate to the previous Babylonian New Year’s Day near the spring equinox.  Jews postdate to the next Jewish New Year’s Day near the fall equinox.  For an event in July, the two different reckonings yield dates 18 months apart, and failure to comprehend this has led to some writers mistakenly believing the Temple was destroyed in 586 B.C. – based on how long Jeremiah said Nebuchadnezzar had been king.

Mathematically, July 586 B.C. to September 2015 A.D. (with no year zero) is 2600 years – not evenly divisible by seven.  There are 371.429 7-year cycles in this time frame.  Even allowing for the change of a year in our September at the end of a year in the Hebrew calendar, and going from late September (Tishri) 586 B.C. to September/Tishri 2015 A.D. we still have 2599 years, or 371.286 7-year cycles, even in the Hebrew calendar.  If 2015 A.D. is a Shemitah year, as Cahn tells us, then 586 B.C. can’t be one too.  But the 0.286 fraction of a cycle disappears if my calculated date of 584 B.C. is used.

This may help further prove my dating for the destruction of the Temple is correct.  It does not prove I am correct that the Antichrist will be revealed to the world in June 2016, as I state in Antichrist 2016-2019.  Nor does it prove that the world as we know it will end in December 2019, as I explain in End Times and 2019.  But I believe my other evidence in those books does prove my timeline.  If you read them, you can decide.

Regardless, Cahn CANNOT be correct about both 586 B.C. and 2015 A.D.  2600 is not divisible by 7.
