On Sunday January 11, over forty world leaders met in Paris and joined hands in a show of support for those slain in recent attacks which started a few days ago at the Paris offices of Charlie Hebdo, the satirical newspaper that portrayed Islam and Mohammed in a less than flattering light and had a dozen staff gunned down to “avenge the prophet” Mohammed.

World leaders shown in the image above include British Prime Minister David Cameron, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (who in another photo held hands with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in a gesture of peace despite tensions between their peoples at home) Mali’s President Ibrahim Keita, French President Francois Hollande, Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel, and many national leaders… Not shown in the photo above (but also present) were Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz, Queen Rania and King Abdullah II of Jordan, Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held hands with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in a show of solidarity, despite the recent warfare in Ukraine.  Many world leaders were able to show support for France as Paris grieves its losses to senseless attacks by Muslim terrorists.

But not Obama.  His schedule was open, but he did not attend.  He didn’t even do what most presidents would do – send the Vice-President in his place.  Joe Biden was also free, but did not attend.  Surely he sent Secretary of State and Peace Process Czar John Kerry?  Nope.  Attorney General Eric Holder was already in Paris for a security summit anyway – so they had him attend to represent America, right?  Wrong, even the top U.S. official already in Paris did not attend.  (We did send our ambassador, whose name I could make up because no one knows it – which is part of my point here – the United States failed to send anyone recognizable to represent America at the largest rally in the entire history of France.

Well, there was another rally to show support in Washington D.C. just a few blocks from the White House, but no high ranking U.S. officials went there either.  “The lack of senior U.S. government officials at free speech, anti-terrorism rallies in Paris and Washington Sunday left many wondering why President Barack Obama’s administration would miss an opportunity to outwardly display solidarity with France.”  (article HERE)

What did Obama do in response to the Charlie Hebdo attacks?  An article in The Examiner says it all: “Obama administration responds to Hebdo attack by vowing to fight Islamophobia” – in that article: “White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said the real problem is lack of leadership in defending Islam.  ‘There are some individuals that are using a peaceful religion and grossly distorting it, and trying to use its tenets to inspire people around the globe to carry out acts of violence,’ he said. ‘And we have enjoyed significant success in enlisting leaders in the Muslim community, like I said, both in the United States and around the world to condemn that kind of messaging, to condemn those efforts to radicalize individuals, and to be clear about what the tenets of Islam actually are. And we’re going to redouble those efforts in the days and weeks ahead.’  In other words, the White House now thinks part of its job is to defend Islam and teach Americans what it really believes. ‘And obviously, we’re still trying to figure out exactly, like I said, who’s responsible for this attack in Paris, what their motivations are,’ Earnest added.”

Perhaps the White House should take a cue from the Islamic World.  Hundreds of people in Afghanistan seem to understand.  “KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (Reuters) – Hundreds in southern Afghanistan rallied to praise the killing of 12 people at the French newspaper Charlie Hebdo, calling the two gunmen ‘heroes’ who meted out punishment for cartoons disrespectful to Islam’s prophet, officials said Saturday.” (link HERE)

I think what we can glean from Obama’s lack of interest in condemning the attacks, and the official White House’s official head-up-its-*** level confusion over “who’s responsible for this attack in Paris” make it pretty clear that Obama simply ISN’T AGAINST THE ATTACK on Charlie Hebdo.

After all, this is the President who said “The Future Must Not Belong To Those Who Slander The Prophet of Islam.”

Maybe France has gotten Obama’s message.  Will America get it soon, or only after it’s too late?
