Jeremiah Jameson recently had a blog post at The End Times Prophecy Report which asked:
“What happens to the earth? Does it get destroyed or does it last forever?” I already know the apparent contradiction or discrepancy in biblical statements on this subject is largely due to two failures most translators make: first, they don’t understand that in ancient times an “earth” or a “world” was thought of as the surface orientation of that time – with one following after another – second, most do not understand that God’s method of destroying one world and rebuilding a new one involves a crustal displacement of the surface over the mantle and core of the planet – a pole shift.
Many Bible verses clearly describe a pole shift:
Isaiah 24:1 “Behold, the Lord lays the earth waste, devastates it, distorts its surface and scatters its inhabitants.”
Job 9:5-6 “It is God who removes the mountains, they know not how, When He overturns them in His anger; Who shakes the earth out of its place, And its pillars tremble.”
Psalms 46:2 “though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea.”
Jameson continues: “After answering the question(s) and later thinking, “Gee, that might make an interesting article,” it was discovered that this very question was already covered almost TWO YEARS AGO at ETPR.
After re-reading what was written earlier, it was decided that what was written then on the topic was fairly comprehensive and correct.
SO, it was further decided to reprint it.
3- Ecclesiastes 1:4 vs. 2PETER 3:10
“… the earth abideth for ever.”
–Ecclesiastes 1:4“and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.”
–2PETER 3:10RECONCILIATION: The earth will abide forever–though the old earth will pass away after the return of Jesus Christ and God will create a new earth.
“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.”
–Revelation 21:1,5“For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.”
–Isaiah 65:17“Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
–2PETER 3:13“And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.”
–Revelation 20:11“For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. and they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.”
–Isaiah 66:22-24“Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.”
–Isaiah 55:6
SO, for the short answer (given to that inquiring mind on the day his questions were raised):
The earth we are living in presently shall be TOTALLY DESTROYED (by God, in God’s time, NOT by man in man’s timing). BUT a brand NEW EARTH will be created in its place.”
I agree with Jeremiah Jameson completely on this topic, as it further supports the evidence pointing to an upcoming pole shift catastrophe that will destroy civilization and completely reorient the surface of the Earth. Though he may not like my interpretation, the scientific evidence is backed by the Bible itself:
2 Esdras 2:4-8 tells us “The sun will suddenly start shining at night…. the movement of the stars will be changed.”
Revelation 16:20 “And the cities of the nations fell… and every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.”
Hebrews 12:26-27 “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heaven. This expression, “Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken.” The bible even comments on its own mention of “yet once more” to emphasize that this has happened before, and will happen again! The Book of Genesis describes the last pole shift; Revelation describes the next one.
