You might have seen him in 1993 in a special called “The Mystery of the Sphinx.” You may have read his books or articles, in which he suggested that Egypt was started by survivors from a civilization that came before them, emphasizing that “Egyptian civilization was not a development, it was a legacy.” – John Anthony West

John was an American author, lecturer, guide and a proponent of the Sphinx water erosion hypothesis and his documentary on the theory earned him an Emmy Award. Along with Graham Hancock, Robert Bauval, Robert Schoch, Rand Flem-Ath, and Charles Hapgood, West was one of the great rogue scholars pushing the envelope of science and Egyptology, fighting for recognition of our true ancient history and heritage going back deep into prehistory. My own understanding of mythology and ancient history would be far less advanced if not for great risk-takers like West and the others listed above. They have paved the way for books like mine to be accepted.
