I forgot to add that, what not many folk appreciate is that as a consequence of the exchange of poles – despite The Earth continuing to rotate in the same direction about its unchanged axis (from an external observer’s perpective) – The Sun thereafter rises on the opposite horizon (from a survivor’s perspective).

This can be easily appreciated in the wingnut video, where the wingnut carries on spinning in the same direction from the viewer’s perspective, but each flip, it changes between ‘screwing up’ and ‘unscrewing’.

But, just because The Sun rises on the opposite horizon, it doesn’t logically follow that because Ben Davidson supports Velikovsky on this, that there’s therefore a micronova.

Conversely, just because micronova is bunk, that doesn’t mean that whatever else BD supports is therefore also bunk.

This is of course impossible according to Newtonian physics.

What is possible, is a fairly rapid exchange of poles (within a single 24hr period), without loss of momentum (or violation of Newtonian physics) or change of rotational axis. Such an exchange is observable in spinning objects (in zero G), that spontaneously flip due to being dynamically unstable (Dzhanibekov effect).
