I recently answered a question on Quora.com – Is there currently a pole shift on the earth?

We seem to be in the early stages of a magnetic pole shift right now (which will probably transform into a catastrophic axial pole shift – a crustal displacement – relatively soon.) For now, we already observe the magnetic poles moving rapidly – the North Magnetic Pole has been accelerating towards Russia at a recent pace of at least 30–40 miles per year.

The Magnetic North Pole has actually moved more towards Russia than the image above indicates.  And the weakening of the Earth’s magnetic field is an even more critical sign of an imminent reversal.

Michael Salla recently did a good job comparing the theories of pole shift authors like Charles Hapgood, Chan Thomas, and Rand Flem-Ath in this presentation.

Salla’s basic conclusion based on ice core samples is that although Eastern Antarctica has been covered in ice for ages, Western Antarctica was ice free until the last pole shift just over 12,000 years ago and might have been the location of Atlantis. (Even though pole shifts repeatedly relocate the North and South Poles, the last several South Pole positions have been off the coast of what we call Greater or Eastern Antarctica, leaving the Western portion of the continent outside the Antarctic Circle until the last pole shift brought the entire continent under icy conditions by centering the continent over the pole.

It is the position of the poles that cause regional “ice ages.” The last North Pole was centered in Hudson Bay which is why North America had an “ice age” while Siberia was warm and teeming with life. Today Antarctica is in an “ice age” but after the next pole shift at least one side of the continent should become habitable.

The present world as we know it will end with a cataclysmic pole shift as so many world ages have ended before ours. The Bible is far from the only source of information on this, but consider the following verses in that context as ancient descriptions of what was witnessed and what we can expect again soon:

Isaiah 13:13 “I will make the heavens tremble, and the earth will be shaken from its place.”

Isaiah 24:1 “Behold, the Lord lays the earth waste, devastates it, distorts its surface and scatters its inhabitants.”

Job 9:5-6 “It is God who removes the mountains, they know not how, When He overturns them in His anger; Who shakes the earth out of its place, And its pillars tremble.”

Psalms 46:2 “though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea.”

Haggai 2:6 “For thus says the LORD of hosts, ‘Once more in a little while, I am going to shake the heavens and the earth, the sea also and the dry land.”

Revelation 6:14 “The sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.“

Revelation 21:1 “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away…”

These topics and more are covered in detail in my book on POLE SHIFT evidence. As for how the planet will eventually end – assuming our scientists do not come up with destructive forces powerful enough to reduce the entire planet to a cloud of dust, the Earth will die when the Sun eventually supernovas. Since that is estimated to be several billion years away, if I were going to worry at all about these things, I’d focus on the cycle of pole shifts. Mankind as a species survives, but over 99% of individuals do not – and this time we must add the destruction of every nuclear power plant, oil refinery, chemical factory (etc) into the equation. Some estimate of when the next event is due range from 1 – anytime from 2000–2200, 2 – December 2019, 3 – 2028–2029, 4 – October 2046. So the next pole shift event might accelerate to its catastrophic stage within the next few decades.
